# Captain

> Self-tuning file search for AI agents. Captain syncs scanned DOCX, complex PDFs, and video from sources like S3, SharePoint, and Google Drive, and makes complex files searchable with one API call, self-tuned towards your accuracy and latency targets.

Captain is one platform: a managed file search API (v3), the `captain_eval` MCP tool (the main interface, which writes evals from your own files and tunes retrieval toward the accuracy or latency target you set), Captain Sync for event-driven bucket sync (S3, R2, GCS, Supabase, Backblaze), an open source MCP server, and opt-in PII masking at index time.
